So shiny, yet dark and intriguing! Hmm….kinda like Jo’s Vegas. Looks like the web designers hit the nail on the head!
    Very awesome, Vicki!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, T! Jo is all *rawr* and such in the header, no?

  • Bellafreedom

Im going to be sick! Did that really say that The Neon Graveyard is the last book? I have fallen in love with these books and to think that there wont be another one to follow, I need to get a life. HAHA I love you books!!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Don’t be sick! I think Jo (and everyone else) gets their due in this one. All is as it should be. I’d rather have a strong ending than a fizzle and pop, yanno?
But a new series will follow c. 9 mos after NG, so … I dunno. *Don’t* get a life? ;-)

      Thank you for reading!

  • Tanya08113

I haven’t logged on in a while, so I was very surprised! Very beautiful :)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Tanya! It’s not officially ‘live’ yet – working out kinks, but I love it too. If there’s anything you’d like that’s not here, just let me know!

  • Kari Thomas

LOVE the look of your site, Vicki! Is Austin Design Works easy to work with?

I had a hiccup in direction halfway through this conversion to WordPress and
they just dropped back ten and punted. Check out some of their other sites

Thank you, Jackie! Good to “see” you!

  • http://thebookwurrm.wordpress.com/ DirtyBlackStiletto

So I reached the end of the fifth book and it sort of punched me in the solar plexus. I had to sit down, breathe for a while and then (when I was done wailing Nooooooo!!!) I read it again. It was. Fantastic. But I decided to wait for the next two to be released so that I could be finished with the series (what can I say, punches hurt). My point is, the books are awesome sauce. Sorry about the vocabulary, I get challenged when I’m trying to squee so that I have a modicum of my dignity left later. And I absolutely can’t wait for the new series. (I read about it ans commenced danced. It’s a good thing no one else is home.)

Thank you for telling such wonderful stories. :)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Erm … I’m sorry?
And did you mean the fifth or the fourth? (Wasn’t sure because you mentioned two more books, and Neon Graveyard, the sixth, is the last.) In any case, I’m thrilled you love the books enough to be sad that they’re ending. Believe me, as hard as that is – as a reader and an author – it’s much better than the alternative.
And I say awesome-sauce all the time! So squee away, I’ll do the same – I’m lucky to have such amazing readers!

Thank you for taking the time to write!

  • Tracy

I can’t believe we’re coming to the end of this series!! I’ve loved every minute of it, and can’t wait to see what you have in store for Joanna and company as they fight to the finish. Thanks for such an entertaining and engrossing series :)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi Tracy! Thank you for reading along with Joanna, and bringing her to life these past few years. I’ve enjoyed writing her so much, though I have to say it’s nice to be able to write the end I’ve had in mind for her for so long.
Thank you for stopping by to comment!

  • Pamela Patchet

Nice to hear from you and congrats on the new book, awesome website and brand spankin’ new series, whoot whoot!

And what’s with slamming the Cirque? I know I will not rest until we have Celine herself starring in a Cirque show, but then perhaps her heart will NOT go on.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Pam,
I prefer Celine over Cirque! They’re ubiquitous, and have run the poor, downtrodden showgirls outta town. What’s a tall girl to do? ;-)
But thank you for all the congrats – I’m thrilled with it all!

  • http://evolvhealth4u.myevolv.com Evolvhealth4u

Just got your email. So sorry this is going to be the last book.
Love the series and am a big fan. Can’t wait to read Neon Graveyard.
So when will you start your next series and hope we don’t push you to hard BUT WHEN IS THE NEXT WONDERFUL BOOK coming out?
Would love to win you contest!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you for saying so – I can’t wait for you to read it as well. As for the new series, it’ll debut next spring – and I’m on a 9 month release schedule instead of 12, so you’ll be getting books sooner as well.
Consider yourself entered in the contest, best to you, and thank you for commenting!

  • levichar

Not really happy about this being the last book…but happy about the contest. I lent all mine out so much that I don’t have them anymore. I’ve been wanting to buy them again for a while now.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Aw, lending is sweet … but I’m not sweet and don’t do it anymore. Makes me crazy not to get them back! In any case, consider yourself entered – maybe you can get all six signed instead. (But don’t lend them out!)

  • Tara Skibar

A chance to win all 6 books, signed, sealed AND delivered? I’m in. My books are so beaten and broken and dog-eared and ‘old-book’ smelling…it would be great to have a nice, new, fresh-smelling set. Who doesn’t love the smell of new books? :-) And to have them signed…even better!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

You made my books smell old??? ;-)
Consider yourself entered. And thank you, Tara, for writing!

  • Anonymous

Love the new website and am very sad that the series is ending. Can’t wait to see Jo kick some butt again! And oooooh, shiny new set of books all signed by you? They would look lovely in my brand-new bookshelves! Because, you know, I already have too many books so I have to keep buying bookshelves. I’d love to add yours to the special “autographed” section.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Lisa,
I’d love for you to add them. I wish I could give them away to everyone – you are all making *me* sad the series is ending.
Congrats on the new shelves … I’m jealous!

  • Anonymous

love the series !! hate to see it end..but excited about your new one… cya in NYC..

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you – and see you soon!

  • DebiM

This is great, Vicki. I’ll have to drop by more often to harass you as only I can do…. LOL!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Oh, lawd…

  • Stephanababbitbekebrede

I stumbled upon Book 1 through a freebie on my Kindle. I finished it so quickly I immediately bought all of the remaining ones. I absolutely LOVE this series. While it will be a shame for it to end I am looking forward to see how things turn out for Joanna! I love your new website. And having what has become a favorite series in an actual hardcopy and signed – icing on the cake! If I was lucky enough it would be my first ever autographed book!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Ah, I loved that Kindle giveaway – gave people who might not otherwise try the series a nice chance. Thank you for reading, and letting me know how much you’ve enjoyed it. I’ll wish you luck in the contest … as I mentioned downstream, I wish you all could win!
      Best to you.

  • Heather

Counting down to May, even though I am sorry to see such a strong series ending!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Heather – but it’s a strong, proper end, I think … preferable to the alternative. Must allow our girl to go out swingin’…

  • Mantha4

    Yay!!! Super excited!!!!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Thank yew!

  • http://profiles.google.com/amandadoffee Amanda Doffee

Found your series a couple years ago through Kim Harrison and absolutely love it. Hate to see it end, but can’t wait to see what you’re going to write next.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, isn’t Kim great? I love both her and her series – looks like I owe her another debt of gratitude for your readership. Thank you for reading and commenting!
      All best to you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=5802760 Erin Coté

Just finished reading your newsletter. Counting down the days until May 31st (66 more days). Thank you for writing such a great series!

    ~Erin

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Erin – a familiar “face!” Thanks for stopping by.
      And for giving me a day-count … I didn’t know!

  • robynC

just read through your newsletter – and thought i’d pop over and say “hey!”

um, is it May yet??? the wait is gonna kill me – and the conundrum of whether or not to consume NG in one breath or to drag it out and savor it is already spinning around in my head (i never have the discipline to “savor” things *shrugs* patience is NOT my strong point)… anyway, thanks for the awesome stories, can’t wait to see where Jo (and Hunter *nudge nudge*) end up, and can’t wait to see what you pull outta your hat next!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Why ya nudgin’ me now? It’s already written. *evil grin*
And I usually swear I’ll savor a good book … and then devour it as soon as it’s in my hands. I can’t help it. Hopefully you won’t be able to either!

  • Marcie

Hi there Vicki. I found you because I was reading Kim Harrison’s Hollow’s series, and she had a short story in Holidays are Hell which you did too. I actually read all the short stories, but was so taken with Zoe Archer that I had to look you up. I found your site and your books. I requested them from the library to read and because my library didn’t have them, they had to request them from the intercounty library. So now after 6 months I just finished your 4th book and waiting for that new release. I absolutely loved reading each and every one of them, and I will be sad to see the series go. Although I’m interested in seeing what you come up with next. Hopefully I can find the Zodiac series in the stores so that I can read them again without taking 6 months. :) Thanks so much for bringing those late nights full of intrige, love, heartbreak, mystery, and the bright lights of Vegas!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, no! How’d you manage the wait? I love libraries, but I hate giving the books back. Such a rude request. ;-)
And you’re so very welcome – thank you for reading and finding so much to enjoy in my work.
(And there’s another thanks I owe to Kim … whom I devour as well. Well, her books anyway. ;-) )

  • Sue Gooch

Sorry this series is ending – it has been so much fun -

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Sue! I hope you enjoy NG…

  • Nairabell

Wow! Popped over here from your newsletter and gotta say I love the new site – so pretty :)

Quick question though – I’m based in the UK, can I still get some bookplates sent as long as I send a self-addressed envelope and an international reply coupon?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Of course you can get bookplates – my pleasure. Just let me know who and how you’d like them inscribed, and they’re yours! And thanks for remembering the IRC!

Oh, and my designer did a bang-up job on the site, if I do say so myself. It’s fun to see Jo in all her incarnations.

      • Nairabell

        Awesome! Thanks :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=840725252 Amanda Cannon Fenley

Website looks great. Can’t wait to go explore some more.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Amanda. Grab a cyber-seat, prop up your feet. ;-)

  • Anonymous

I’m very sorry to see the end of the series but very excited to read the last book! Thanks for the rockin ride;)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

You’re very welcome – and thank *you* for reading.

  • Anna

    The new website looks great!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Thank you, Anna!

  • Dulcibelle

I have your books on my TBR mountain and I’ve read the first one. I need to move the rest to the top of the pile so I can look intelligent when you come to Houston.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Will that make *me* look intelligent when I go to Houston, too? ;-)

  • Lynne Sears Williams

    Great Work, Vicki! Hugs!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Thanks, Lynne!

  • http://twitter.com/Rachel498 Rachel

LOL, I loved your newsletter. Good luck with taxes! And the new site is beautiful! I love all the pics of Joanna at the top. Sad The Neon Graveyard is the last book, but I know it’ll be amazing. I’m so happy there will be a new series, though. I’m looking forward to it!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Rachel – it’s been awhile since the last letter, eh? Hopefully it won’t be tax season again before the next.

I love Jo … it’s sad to say goodbye, but rest assured, she gets in a few punches before doing so …

  • http://profiles.google.com/quarterling Becky Hancock

Your books are always so popular at my shop! I can hardly keep them in long enough for me to get a hold of them! :D

If you’re ever in CO for a book tour… I’d love to have you stop by my shop. ^.^ (( I know, I know… folks probably pick where you go for your, but it can’t hurt to mention it! ))

    http://www.calicobooks.com

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Wow, that’s fantastic to hear, Becky. Thank you! Another bookseller described me as the little engine that could. Just keep on chuggin’. I rather like that.

Thank you for providing your link. I’ve copied it, so if I’m ever in CO – on tour or not – I’ll be sure to stop in!

  • JessicaV.

I LOVE this series!! My sister’s birthday is the same weekend the book is released. Secretly I’ll be celebrating the release while partying for her Dirty 30th.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Why do I have this image of you reading in a nightclub’s bathroom stall?

  • JessBess2505

Was here earlier this year for something and saw the new look and was amazed! Love the look!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Jess – glad you stopped by again. Consider yourself entered!

  • Anonymous

I discovered the Zodiac series just last year while browsing my local Half Price book store, when I noticed comments of praise on the cover (by three of my favorite authors-Diana Gabaldon, Kim Harrison and Charlaine Harris). Since then I added your name to that list and zoomed through all the Zodiac books and now am anxiously waiting for the next installment. Too bad it will also be the last. Thank you for writing such a terrific story!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, that’s okay txkitty. I love, and am amazed, that people are still so readily finding the books. It’s a thrill at any point. And while there won’t be any more Zodiac books in the near future, I am still writing. I’ll post the info on that after Jo gets her due.

(And those are three of my favorite authors as well!)

  • http://twitter.com/antiphrastic Sarah Kimberly

Lookit how shiny and fancy this place looks! It’s lovely!

And thanks for the newsletter update. Things have been rough lately, and having a great book to look forward to certainly helps!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Sarah, I’m sorry to hear things have been rough. Hopefully I can provide a little escape – that and connection. It’s why I write. Best to you.

And isn’t it shiny? My webmistress is da bomb.

  • Bethany C.

For what it’s worth, Cheat The Grave is the only book that’s ever made me gasp out loud! I can’t wait for the next (and final, sniff) book. But I’m all for seeing an end in sight with series. I think some, while good, go on so long that all I really want is to know how everything ‘turns out.’

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, good! I think sound effects go great with books. ;-)
And I agree with you – my goal is ever to start strong and end stronger. No fading gracefully into the sunset. Jo would say that’s for wimps.

  • Kiraglade

Im with the Vpeeps this place is fabulous

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      VPeep alert! LOL

  • Marcie

I was going to reply to the other thread, but I didn’t want to waste your time of going back through. So in reference to the library wait, it was pure agony! I could read the book in a night, but was waiting at a month to two months for the next book. I too love libraries for their books and when I find good ones I don’t want to give them back. If only money grew on trees. :) Although little by little I will be searching for your books to buy them. I so want to reread them.

Yes Kim’s books are to be devoured just like yours.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, no worries – it enters my inbox w/a direct link to your comment. You can pretty much go where you want and do what you want and I’ll find you.
      That sounded stalker-ish, didn’t it?
And hey, at least the enforced wait kept you from reading all the books in a week. That gets a bit rough when it takes me a whole year to write one. So thank you! ;-)

      • Marcie

Hey I’ve got my own stalker! Well it sounds cool anyways. :)

Yes that enforeced wait did not allow me to read them within a week. I am sure it is hard to know that we can read a book in a couple of hours when it took you a whole year. Although look on the bright side, we so loved them that we read them again and again. A good book is so hard to put down even after you turned that last page. You just want to read it again. :)

        • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

          Hard, yes.
          Best compliment ever? Also yes.
So you won’t find me complaining. And if you do pick it up and read again, finding new things to enjoy the next time, well that’s the REAL win. :-)

  • http://twitter.com/kiaras Melissa Tabon

I was approved for a review copy of NEON GRAVEYARD at NetGalley and it’s killing me that I haven’t had time to devour it yet… Silly obligations like working to put food on the table and sleeping. *sigh*

I love your “many faces of Joanna” header image!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Real Life can be sooooo annoying! But when you do get to it, Melissa — happy reading!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashley-Cox/1403010002 Ashley Cox

I’m so excited for the final book! I hate to see the series end, but… with all the ups and downs this series brought, I’m just happy I don’t have to hold my breath anymore! This series brought countless hours of entertainment while I had no cable.. and throughout my pregnancy… I’m so excited! I can’t state that enough! Thank you Vicki for this great series!!!!!!!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

LOL. That’s certainly one way to look at it! And I know the feeling. Rachel Caine’s books got me through many hours of my first mommy months.
I truly am thrilled you’re looking forward to NG – it’s my pleasure to write for you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lisa-Mann/1373994373 Lisa Mann

This website is so cool! I’m bummed that the series is ending, but that just means that you’ll go on to bigger and better! Right? Right? Love ya!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

LOL, Lisa. Well … that’s the idea. But I love what I’m writing now, and I think my readers will too. Can’t wait to show it to you next year, but for now I’m happy to hang out just a bit longer with Jo.

  • http://profiles.google.com/tezmilleroz Tez Miller

Hey, lass :-) Could you ask your web guru what the rss2 feed link to your blog is, please? Not sure I’ve subscribed to it properly in my GoogleReader.

Looking forward to finding out why Joanna looks a bit zombie on the NEON GRAVEYARD cover ;-)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Sure – it’s pretty important that it’s correct, huh? Thanks for mentioning it.
And she’s *not* a zombie, Tez. Sheesh! (And *shudder*)

  • Yadkny

    Hi Vicki!
The site is awesome… it’s great to be able to interact with authors and you’re definitely on my favs list:)

I discovered your books last year when I was looking for a new series to start, so I picked up all that were available. I find the Zodiac series to be incredibly haunting, but in a good way. After reading them back-to-back I couldn’t get them out of my head and I still can’t. Usually it’s all happily-ever-after for the heroine, but in your stories with every book I’ve read there’s just know way of knowing which way you’ll take the story. The complete unpredictability of it and your incredible world building skills are why I keep coming back for more! It’s sad to see that Joanna will have an end to her amazing journey, but I’m excited at the same time. I’m sure the last book will blow the rest away:)

Do you have any other projects in the works?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Yadkny,

Yep, I agree re. the interaction. I really needed something that would make it easy and timely for my readers and me, and I love being able to respond so readily. (The days of the static sites are numbered, I think.)

You’ve humbled me with your words – I think the greatest thing about writing is that I can write something long before a reader has found it, and it can still speak to them – you – years later. That’s magic.

And yes, I have a new trilogy starting next year … it’ll kick into gear as soon as Jo’s journey is complete. Not too long now. :-)

  • Kelly

Love the series and sad to know that it is ending. Can’t wait till it comes out to read it! You made my day, I’ve been waiting!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Kelly – I appreciate you writing to say so. Closer than ever, right?

  • http://profiles.google.com/bookfanaticforever D Cross

Love the redesign! I’m sad to see the Joanna series ends. I still remember getting an arc of SoS (and being shocked that an author finally made comic books cool!)-I cant believe TNG is the end….:(

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Aw, cool! You’ve been with me since Scent? Thank you! And it was fun bringing comics into prose, even in a small way. The shop scenes are still some of my favorite (psst…and the kids are back in NG, too – don’t tell. ;-) )

  • Setoftreys

Thanks for the update, shocked that the Joanna series will end soon. Looking forward to seeing what is new on the horizon though. Have had a great time with the way you look at the world so far….

    Trey

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Trey. And thanks for taking the time to respond. It’s been a pleasure (and honor) to share Jo’s world with you.

  • Kai

    Hi Vicki,

Since the Joanna series is ending, what will you be working on next?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi, Kai – I have a new trilogy (some more info in the FAQ, if you’re interested) called Celestial Blues. It starts next spring, and the working title of the first book is called The Taken. Hopefully I’ll have some cover art and copy to show you in the fall.

  • http://www.facebook.com/deathlynx James Naumes

In response to the newsletter, I’m convinced not even Jo-livia is powerful enough to stop the influx of Cirque shows! :P

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Brat.

  • kyatty2007

Love the new site design! Have loaned my books to a friend (hey, gotta share the love, right ;) ) and looking forward to a re-read before Neon Graveyard is out. Must reminisce and cry with Jo before her finale.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Absolutely – the more, the merrier. Hope your friend is true, and gives your books back in time. ;-) What? Closer than ever, right?
And I think Jo will appreciate the shoulder to lean on.

  • http://www.twinkiebabies.com Melanie

Love the new site! And can’t wait for the last book. I love series that follow the same characters but I totally respect that she will get the ending she deserves. I’m so glad I found this series and I hope you’ll bring us another character as lovable as Johanna once her series is completed.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you for saying so, Melanie. That’s what I working for, and I can’t wait to introduce a new world to you all. Meanwhile, NG has a lot of surprises in it, so I hope you enjoy that as well. Happy reading!

  • Kafurr

Love the new site and can’t wait to meat you again.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Thank you, Kafurr!

First of all, I just want to say the new website looks great! Although I’m sorry to see the Zodiac series end, I can’t wait to read the last book. The series was excellent and I know you will continue to write more exciting books in the future. I am looking forward to the new series your working on! Wish I could make it to Vegas to see you!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

I wish you could too – hopefully I’ll come to your town (or near) in the future. And I can’t tell you how gratifying it is to hear that you’re excited about a strong ending. Thank you for saying so. Best to you!

  • zoof

Absolutely ADORE the Zodiac series; I’ve read all the books (to date) four times and the world, characters and very real emotions never cease to capture my imagination. My grandparents always had a library (even when it was supposed to be my mother’s bedroom) and I grew up surrounded by books. I’ve taught English, am a school & public librarian, and frequently overindulge in literary worlds. I was startled and surprised at how taken I was at Jo’s world and Ms. Pettersson’s original and captivating universe. It’s one thing to be original, but to have such an eloquent voice and writing style also surprised me (English teachers are frequently book snobs). So my apologies for being so surprised, my thanks for continually giving me a world I fell in love with from page 1, my excited & anxious applause for the I’m still-not-quite-ready-for-it-to-end-but-man-what-a-ride series.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi zoof – First, it’s Vicki. ;-)
And I take your surprise as a compliment. I’m a word hound. I just love them, and sometimes I get taken with the lyricism more than I should. I’m flattered you’ve found something to love in the books, so much so that you’ve given precious time to rereads. Thank you.
And one of my lit idols is Diana Gabaldon, and she always layers her stories in such depth and complexity.
And, man – teacher, librarian, lifelong reader … my kind of peeps. I’m honored to write for you. Thank you.

This is great. Im hoping Joanna will get her born with looks back in the end book.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Stacy … erm, stay tuned! ;-)

Hello,Like kyatty2007 I am looking forward to a reread of the Zodiac Series to reminisce and cry before Neon Graveyard… I am also looking forward to the new series! The website is awesome and I look forward to visiting it a lot.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hey Becky … haven’t I seen you on Facebook?
But yes, there’s time for a re-read, and NG will be here before you know it. I’m so excited to get it to you … and the new series after that. Thanks for the compliments on the site – I love it, and would love to chat with you here!

  • Ginger219

Just wanted to say how much I love the Zodiac series and I’m counting down the weeks until the 6th and final book is released! You are a great writer and I look forward to read more of your books in the future :) P.S. Please come to the Philadelphia, PA area soon!!!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Ginger, I’d *love* to come to Philly. If and when I do, I’ll be sure to announce it…and you’ll have to let me know where all the cool kids are. ;-)
      Thank you for reading!

  • sukie

Hi Vicki! I received your newsletter and was so surprised to see that the Signs of the Zodiac was coming to an end, but also gratified to know that this character would find her (happy?) ending. I have also been around since the first book, SoS and can I tell you that in one way my pocketbook was happy that they came in paperback, but in another way I thought you totally deserved to have the books come in hardback? I’m not sure what it takes to get books in hardback as opposed to paperback, but if it means having a fabulous and popular series, this should have been it. I can tell you if your new series, Celestial Blues comes out in hardback, I will definitely buy it! Good luck with the new series, I will be there with bells on….

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Did I say happy? *evil, evil grin*
Oh, thank you so much for your kind words re. the series. It blows me away when people say they’re just finding it – I love that Zodiac has that kind of shelf life – but hearing someone has been there from the beginning is like knowing someone from high school. Takes ya back, yanno?
And I’m happy to be a paperback writer for now (hc requires some hard numbers. Like I said, people are still finding the series, though I’m impossibly gratified by the positive reaction once they do. Good enough for me!) as I love being in such an affordable format. CB will be in paperback too, and I’m just thrilled to bring it to you.
      Thank you for writing!

    Im so glad your back!

      Thanks, Jay!

I can’t wait for your next book! I love your take on Las Vegas, everytime I drive into town to go shopping I am looking around for stars above doors.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

LOL! I love it! I have to admit, I’m always on the lookout for the nefarious. Makes errands so much easier to take.

  • http://www.facebook.com/laura.hermes Laura Hermes

Just checking out the new site! Thanks for the newsletter, I like getting fun email instead of the spam I usually get!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Laura, thank you for saying so! I’m glad it brightens your day – I love writing them. Best to you.

  • Raven

I love the unofficial description you gave of THE NEON GRAVEYARD in your newsletter: “Watch out evil-doers — taking everything away from Joanna Archer has only made her more dangerous than ever.”

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Ravie. Very *rawr*, right? ;-)
But, hey, man. I *know* things.

  • http://profiles.google.com/bm2ngreer Beth Mansell

I’m so sorry the series will end because I’ve really enjoyed it but I will look forward to what you will deliver next! Hopefully it will be just as exciting and dark as this series.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Beth. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy NG!

  • Kelly Golden

Loving the new website! Just so hard to say good-bye with Neon Graveyard. I can’t wait to see what Joanna has instore to win back Hunter. I have been on pins and needles all year!

I can relate so much to what she has gone through with losing her sister, becoming her sister, fighting the truth behind all the lies….and were tell will her mom end up with her daughter.

I have been rereading the series like mad just to get ready for NG and cannot wait to see who it will all end!

Looking forward to your next series Vicki!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi Kelly! It *is* hard to say goodbye, isn’t it? But doing so has allowed me to tie up some longstanding threads and series questions, so hopefully that will balance things a bit for you. I’m thrilled to hear you’re looking forward to NG as you reread (the biggest compliment of all!) and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing. Get ready for one last ride!

      • Kelly Golden

We need some Zodiac merchandise! To keep Joanna in our hearts!

        • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh, Kelly – you should see me. I’m rubbing my hands together gleefully. I just ordered a new goodie that I think you’re going to love. Can’t wait until they come in so I can show them to you!

  • Jen

Hi Vicki, I just read the newsletter and was so sad to see that this will be the last book in the series. I found your wonderful series a few years ago while on Kim Harrison’s website, she had a link to you and she highly recommended Scent of Shadows. I read the excerpt you had posted, was instantly hooked, ordered the book right away and have been a fan ever since. I look forward to reading a new Zodiac book every year and can’t wait to read the final one. You have created such an interesting world that it is so easy to sit down thinking i’ll read a few chapters and then find myself unable to put the book down until I have finished it. Although I am sad to see the series come to an end I am very excited about the new trilogy that you are working on. I can’t wait to see what you come up with this time, I know whatever it is, it will be awesome! I was wondering though if you think you’ll ever write another short story or maybe even a whole book about Zoe? I loved the short story you wrote featuring her, she is a character I would like to read more about.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi Jen – Kim is great, isn’t she? I was reading her before I was published and remain awed and humbled by her support of my work.
And it’s so interesting for me to hear how readers have come to the series – thank you for letting me string you along past your bedtime. ;-)
And thank you for mentioning ‘The Harvest.’ It was the first short story I ever wrote, and there was no question as to who I wanted to feature. Zoe is so strong and interesting to me … and yes, she’s still poking at the back of my mind, but for now I’m going to let simmer there, and focus on Celestial Blues. If she persists, who knows? I could revisit her *and* Ashlyn… Never say never, right?
      Best to you!

  • Sdylion

Just got my newsletter and can’t wait for the new book to come out!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks, Sdylion – closer than ever now!

  • http://profiles.google.com/blazesandbubbles Kimberly Flood

Oh! I so want these books…I had all of them up to book 4 and loaned them out. Well, you know how that goes. I never got them back and the person doesn’t know where they are!!! Harumph!!! I love this series. I lost track after book 4 and have been dying to get caught up. Now that I know it’s the last of the series….I need to get crackin!

Congratulations on the release, the new site upgrades and the new series!!!

    I’ve missed reading your work!

    Kimberly F

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Kimberly – OMG, you stopped after the biggest cliffhanger/turning point. What happened … did I break you? ;-)
I fully understand about loaning books.
It’s why I never do it anymore. ;-)

  • Lyn Allport

Hi Vicki, I live in Australia and have a kindle purchased from Amazon. I can buy all your books in the Signs of the Zodiac series on kindly except for Book 3 The Touch of Twilight. Any reason why this one alone is not available on kindle in Australia. Would love to buy the whole series but don’t want to get them if one is not available.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

That’s so strange, Lyn. I’ll look into it …

      • Lyn Allport

Thanks Vicki. I would really appreciate it. Your books sound great and just my sort.

  • Jessica Jordan

It is great to hear from you! I love the new site! Congrats on the new book, I can’t wait to read it! I think you are a wonderful Author! You are working on something else….ohh, I can’t wait for details! =-)

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Jessica,
Thank you for writing! I can’t wait for you to read NG as well as what I have up my sleeve next. I’m getting very excited for both … especially giving Joanna & Co. a proper send off. Not too long now!

  • Jennialea

I will be sad to see all the characters I love go, but I’m super excited for Neon Graveyard, it’s already on my calendar :)
I understand what you mean about the Cirque shows..showgirls are a part of Vegas, the Cirque shows just don’t have the soul that the showgirls do.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Don’t get me wrong – there’s no Cirque hate here. The performers are magic.
But do we really need a cirque show in every building housed on the Strip?
And what … seven weeks or so til NG? I’ll send you another update when it’s near … plus I’m planning a cool new giveaway to mark the end of the series — can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
All best – thanks for writing, Jennialea!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1090000407 Zavara Woods

I was so excited to receive your newsletter. I have been waiting for the new book to come out. I am very sad to hear that it is the last one in the series :(

I found your books by pure chance. I was browsing through the library one day and the title “The Scent of Shadows” caught my attention. I have been hooked ever since. I have read the whole series and loved every book. I will admit to getting mad and frustrated at the way Jo has been treated. I hope you give her her due in the end. (Fingers crossed).

Whatever you do, I know it will be great! Can’t wait until May 31st!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Zavara,

What a lovely post – thank you! I appreciate your frustration – I think you were feeling the same frustration as Jo – and I hope you find NG – while not filled with a rainbows and unicorns ending – still satisfying.

And stayed tuned via newsletter for breaking news on contests, and giveaways, and news on the new series – y’all get it first!

      Best,
      Vic

  • Marjorie

Can’t wait until May 31st – I think I will have to buy the bookbook cause I don’t see anywhere I can pre-order the ebook – after that a new series “squeek” I’m excited!!!

  • Jill

I love your books!!!!Sorry the series is ending, but they can only go on so long. What is up next,I’m sure it will be fantastick?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Jill! I have a new series starting up next year called Celestial Blues. More info can be found in the Q&A, but suffice it to say, I’m very excited to bring it to you.

      Thank you for writing!

  • Cathy M

The website is totally gorgeous Vicki, and I can’t wait to see how your wrapped up Joanna’s story.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Cathy. I’m thrilled to have something a bit more interactive. It’s also *simpler.* So I can work on bringing you more stories. Thank you for writing!

  • Lyn Allport

Hi Vicki, any news on Book 3 The Touch of Twilight on kindle for download in Australia?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

My publisher is looking into it, but everyone is mystified. With all other books available in all formats, ToT should be as well!

  • Cathy M

I love to re-read a series right before a new release, and I am on book 4 right now, with City of Souls. Should have just enough time to finish up with Cheat the Grave before diving into Neon Graveyard.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Sounds like perfect timing to me! I can’t wait to get a new one into your hot little hands. Happy reading!

  • Phedre

    Vicki,

Love your new site! Especially the de-orange treatment on book no. 4′s Joanna. Looking forward to have a good reason to have insomnia on 31 May!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Phedre (love your name!). It’s awesome to see Jo in all her incarnations … I can’t wait til you can really see the final one on May 31! Thanks for writing.

  • Marcie

Oh I just read about your new series, Celestrial blues. It sounds really good and now I have another book to wait for. :) Sorry you didn’t win the ARC book, but hey you got a whole new series from it. In my book that is a win.

    Marcie

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Marcie,

I ended up buying the book, anyway. Kelley’s too good of an author to hold a grudge. ;-)
And I totally agree – I rather got to have my cake and eat it too in this instance, and I can’t wait to share the CB series with you. All very exciting times!

      Thank you for reading!

  • Tinker_bell_85_1

when did Joanna find out she was having a baby, did I miss that? Or is in the last book?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Read the last two pages of CHEAT THE GRAVE. It’s implied, but there. ;-)

  • Kimba_1973

I have read the first 2 books and loved them. But I have been uable to find any more books and no one will order them in for me. How can I get the rest of the series?

    • Kimba_1973

I forgot to say that I am in Melbourne Australia.

      • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

You know, you’re the second person to tell me that they’re having trouble getting the books in Australia. Let me check on that – they should be readily accessible.
I’ll get back to you asap…

        • Kimba_1973

          Great thanks. :-)

        • Kimba_1973

Vicki maybe you should email me a letter and I will take it to my local book store and tell them that the author has said they have to order your books for me. lol

          • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

            LOL.

            Dear Bookstore:

Why you no likie? Why you playin’ me like that? Give the girl her book. For the love of God, let her *read!*

            Yours,

            Vic

            ;-)

  • Rick Pearce

No questions. I hate to see a series dragged on and on beyond it’s life. But I also hate when a great series ends. Yours is one of the latter. Hope you have many classy follow ups ahead!!
    Rick

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Rick! I’m looking forward to the end of the month, when I can finally share the end of Jo’s story. It was somewhat cathartic to write – and I hope you’ll agree.

Meanwhile, I just turned in the first book of a new series…it’s going to take an edit, but I think you’ll like it too!

  • Julia

Really really really love the Zodiac series and I can’t wait for Neon Graveyard to be released :D
Couldn’t help but notice that you want your name to be pronounced the Swedish way. Does that mean that you know Swedish :) ?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Ja, jag kan tala lite … men mycket lite! (See, I just cobbled that together.)

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy NG when it comes out!

  • http://twitter.com/Rachel498 Rachel

Awesome newsletter, once again. Don’t worry, I love all the twisted/rancid things you’ve put in the books. It’s always fun to be like “holy crap, how did she come up with that?! That’s so cool.” Although I’m sure Joanna wouldn’t agree. Oh, and I think you’re right “while I might have rancid thoughts, I’m actually a really nice person” would make a fantastic cover quote. Can’t wait to read the first few chapters of Neon Graveyard!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

LOL. I should start collecting cover quote like that. Maybe for the new series.

And the first few chapters will be up Tuesday, so I’ll shout it out then. Can’t wait *for* you to read it too.

  • Piratecommodore061786

Vicky I love your series but please slow down i have the first four and its hard for me to catch up

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you for saying so! And you’ll have a chance to catch up now, as the sixth book – NEON GRAVEYARD – is the last in this series. I hope you enjoy the journey!

  • Cristina

it is Wednesday.. I checked all day Yesterday for the Excerpt for THE NEON GRAVEYARD.. I’m not Happy.. I really can’t weight .. its driving me insane!

P.S. Got my Poker Chip.. Lived it!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

I’m sorry, there was a bit of confusion … but it’s up now! Happy reading to you, and I’m so pleased you like the poker chip. Careful where you put it … don’t want someone walking off with a piece of your soul. ;-)

  • Jan

Hi Vicki. Love your Zodiac Series. Cant wait to get my hands on the latest. Was wondering if your planning a Michigan visit anytime soon?? Would love to meet you, and get my books signed.
    -Jan

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you, Jan! I hope you enjoy NG … and I’m sorry I won’t be visiting Michigan in the near future. If you’d like, I can send you a signed bookplate (details to the right of this message) and you can insert it inside your book(s). Also, there’s a week left for the preorder/freebie giveaway – a signed bookplate and a NG poker chip. Just let me know. I’m happy to send one or the other out to you.
And thank you for taking time to stop by and say hi!

  • Patricia

Congratulations on the end of a fabulous series!  You finished what you set out to do, and now it’s time to take a bow.  I’m very interested to see what characters you will be working on next.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Patricia, that’s exactly how I feel. I can’t think of another way or place to end the series, so it’s a pleasure to end it here. And I can’t wait to bring you Kit and Grif from my new Celestial Blues series. I’m having a blast writing them.
      Thank you for reading.

  • Ala_25

I just wanted to say that I went to two bookstores in downtown Chicago and neither had the Last Sign of the Zodiac!!!  I am so Angry, I should have ordered it online!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Ug – so sorry! It seems the long holiday weekend threw a wrench into the works. I hope you have it now … or soon!

  • Marcie

My library does not have the last book in the Zodiac series, which is so sad.  I tried to request it via the interlibrary loan and I’m not allowed to for 6 monhts!  Geesh 6 Months is going to be a long wait if I can swing it I may have to buy it.  I can’t wait 6 months!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Good luck! Maybe you have a soft-hearted friend to borrow from? (Bat your lashes!)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1102931908 Lori Coleman

    Hi Vicki,

Got the book plate and my poker chip in the mail last week, way cool.  Great idea!!

I JUST finished reading The Neon Graveyard and I have to say that it was a perfect ending for Joanna.  I’m going to miss her terribly though!  I know that all good series must come to an end, but maybe with a hiatus to work on your CB series you *might* decide to come back and let us all know what’s going on with the troops in Vegas, Ashlyn and Zoe, and of course, Joanna and Hunter’s love child, Olivia’s namesake?  I mean, a whole new series might be ripe for the pickin’s!!  :~}  I can keep dreaming…and in the meantime, I’ll follwo you, wherever you’re leading.  Looking forward to the new CB series!

    Your faithful reader,

    Lori Coleman

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thanks so much, Lori. I’m so happy to hear that you think I did Jo justice in the end. And I did an interview with Las Vegas Weekly (out today – the link is on my blog) that talks a bit about revisiting the Zodiac world, and a bit more about CB.
      Thank you for reading!

  • http://twitter.com/little_gem31 Gemma Harding

    Vicki,

I’d just like to say thanks for the poker chip and signed book plate. They were a nice surprise. :) Not many authors are will to send there stuff over the pond so its made it all the more special!

I’m planning to have a Zodiac series marathon. :)

I can’t wait to see what the next series will be!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

My pleasure, Gemma. Thank you for reading … it means a lot no matter where you are. ;-)

  • JanetW1960

I love the Zodiac Series so much,I’m sad that they are over with. I am half way through your last book and I am already Craving More. I am out there telling everyone I know that reads about your books. Keep on writing your really good at it.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi Janet – Hopefully by the time you finish you’ll feel it ended just where it should, and I’m thrilled you care enough about Jo’s story to write to me. Makes me feel like I’m doing my job.

I have an exciting new series coming up, so maybe I can start a new addiction for you.

      Happy reading!

  • Shawnna Boles

    Vicki,

As soon as I finished The Neon Graveyard earlier today, I lunged for my cell phone so that I could text my husband and tell him that there is an author out there that actually ends her series when the story has been told.  I am overjoyed that the Zodiac series was written the way that it was… the characters were lively, the plot was interesting, the heroine grew as a person, the location was vivid, the twists were unexpected, and THE STORY ENDED!  There are so many series out there that I have abandoned because everything about them is stuck in stasis… the characters stop developing, the plot becomes diluted, and the series drags on so long that it becomes painful to read.

Your series has been so enjoyable for me to read… every time I open one of the books on my Kindle, I remember sitting by the lazy river at the MGM all day long with the first book.  The glue holding it together melted and I had to read chunks of pages, I had a reaction to the sunscreen I was wearing and broke out in thousands of tiny bumps, I ended up with the mother of all sunburns, and I blew nearly $100 on frozen drinks because I refused to move, but it was THE BEST part about any of my trips to Vegas.  Forget the places I’ve eaten, the concerts I’ve been to, the times I’ve idly put a quarter in a slot machine while waiting for friends and somehow won a few hundred in one play, the men that have hit on me (hey, ego boosts are great!), or the great exhibits I’ve seen… reading your work is the happiest memory I have of all of my Vegas vacations. ;-)  I’m so happy that you ended the series when you felt like the story had been told… if it had dragged on and on and on, I wouldn’t have that wonderful memory.

I usually read two books a day… probably because I’m as good as deaf and don’t care for TV… so I rarely ever tell others that they should read a certain author’s works.  Most authors, books, or series don’t stand out from the crowd.  I’ve never had a favorite author before… but I do now!  Thank you for being AMAZING!

Hey… since you made Vegas rock for me… would you consider setting a series in New Orleans?  I need something to read the next time I’m down there and the experience could definitely stand a VP boost.  ::winks::

    Thanks again!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Wow, Shawnna – thank you so much for writing. I was on the road when I received this, thus the belated reply, but your words really touched me. Thank you.

No, Joanna Archer has never been a static character, and I think that’s why the series had to end when it did – for all the reasons you mentioned.

And I *love* your Vegas stories! I actually dreamed of someone reading the series while on vacation here, so that’s amazing to me. I would also love to write something in NOLA, however my next trilogy is also set in Vegas. It was the one storytelling aspect of the Zodiac series I was unwilling to let go.

So thank you again for reading, and I hope you’ll enjoy the Celestial Blues series just as much! Best to you!

    Hi Vicki,

Just finished The Neon Graveyard last night.  When I saw “The Final Sign of the Zodiac” on the cover, I thought, “What the heck?  I was expecting 12 novels in the series,” but by the time I was halfway through, I realized that there wasn’t going to be any place to go after this book; it just had to be the end of the series.  Sure, you could have thrown more stuff at Jo before she confronted Solange and the Tulpa for the dual showdowns, but that would have diluted the story without really adding anything to it.

My only complaint is about the title’s relationship to the story; you didn’t include the neon graveyard itself in the story.  Yeah, I know; it’s a quibble.

By the way, I visit Vegas about every year and a half on the average; last time was to run in the Las Vegas Marathon (well, half marathon—but even so, not bad for a 68 year old lady, huh?).  I was there about a month after reading the first book, and just happened to drive past the neon graveyard, and told the friend I was with, “I just finished a book about that place, there’s this group of superheroes…”  Somehow, seeing the place made the store all that much more real to me.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Michelle,

Yes, that’s a common and reasonable assumption given the series title, but I decided to end it at book 6 for exactly the reasons you stated. I’m thrilled it worked for you.

As for the title … well, it actually does work. The Neon Boneyard is the place name of the entry to the Light’s lair. But the Neon Graveyard is referenced in the book as referring to the entire city. If Jo doesn’t act – well and quickly – the entire city will be a neon graveyard. So that’s where the title came from.

Amazing that you run the LV marathon! I see it every year, and every year I think …
      not for me! ;-)
Maybe someday when I’m strong … like at 68! Woot!

      Best to you!

      • Michelle

Well, as I said, I ran the half marathon, not the full marathon.  I started running at age 63, and to date have run two marathons (but not in Vegas—yet) and six half marathons.  But for the next year or so, I’m going to concentrate on shorter distances: 5K and maybe 10K races.

And thanks for the distinction between boneyard and graveyard.  Oh, seeing as how I can’t recall every detail of the series, did you ever disclose where the Shadows’ Lair is?

        • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Well, I think that’s amazing – at ANY age.

Nope – never disclosed the Shadow lair. I thought that best left to *your* imagination! ;-)

          • Michelle

Well, in that case, the Shadow Lair must be underneath the pyramid.  But if the MGM Signature had not been built where the MGM Grand amusement park had been, I’d say the lair was in the relic of that amusement park.

            BTW, how tall are you?

          • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Oh – that’s a good idea. Though, I think it’s a parking lot now. Else used for the new towers. I haven’t been back in a while.

            I’m 5’11″. Sometimes I lie and say 6′, but I always get caught. :-(

          • Michelle

Get caught?  Do they all have tape measures?  ;)

Yup, those three towers, and the parking lot for them, are where the MGM Grand’s theme park used to be.

  • Jill

Absolutely loved the last book.Love the way it actually ended and did not leave anyone out. Can’t wait for the new series.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you so much, Jill! I loved writing it, that’s for sure. I hope you enjoy CB when it debuts.
      Best to you!

  • http://twitter.com/IndyRoadie James Gibbons

Ack! Spoilers! Must not read other comments :-)
Greetings! I stumbled on your books a couple years ago when I was in between Dresden Files books, and Amazon gave me your name as a “…you might also like”.. and… I do!
I am assuming I am not your normal demographic based on the subject matter, and the multitude of posts here from females, lol, but I can tell you this 40-something male thoroughly enjoys your books. Thanks for expanding my “Urban Fantasy” horizons.
Wishing you much success with your new series!
    Jim

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

James, yes the men tend to be less vocal … which is why I’m happy you spoke up. Thank you! I’m thrilled you’ve enjoyed the series so much, and (as it seems you’ve not yet finished) I hope you enjoying the ending as well. It means a lot that you wrote. Take care – and happy reading!

      • http://twitter.com/IndyRoadie James Gibbons

Yes,I am actually 2 books behind.. SO many books, so little time. They are next on my list though :)
Thanks for taking  the time to respond to your fans..

        • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Of course! Thank you for taking time to write!

          • http://twitter.com/IndyRoadie James Gibbons

I FINALLY got caught caught up and finished the series, LOVED every
minute of it.  Reading 3 books of a series in a row is awesome, until
the last one is finished :

Please tell me you have plans to revisit that world some day!

            Thanks for the great read.

          • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Fantastic to hear, James – thanks so much for saying so, and taking the time to read. I don’t have any plans to revisit Zodiac right now, but that’s just because my mind is Full Up with other characters and worlds at the moment. I definitely ‘never say never’ though. I’d love to revisit Jo someday. (I think I’ll give her a little breathing room first though!)
            Best to you!

  • Kirk

Just finished the last book and I loved the way they drove off into the sunset together.  I also liked seeing Kim Harrison named mentioned.  She is the first author I started reading as an adult.  Now we need a series about the baby.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Kirk,
Yes- the shout-out to Kim. She was the first, and most supportive, UF author to welcome me to publication. She’s lovely.
      Thank you for writing!

      • Michelle

I had the pleasure of listening to Kim at a number of author panels at the Tucson Festival of Books in March.  To double that pleasure, David Weber was also a panelist those panels as well.  And of course, they both graciously signed some books for me.

The only downside (but only a minor one) is that although they gave out Rachel Morgan presenter badges for the 2008 Witches Annual Business Convention, she wouldn’t let Rachel Morgan sign them.  She did sign them herself, though.

  • Erana100

I love your books..!  How would I get on a proofreading team like yours?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

I’m not sure what you mean by proofreading team, but if you’re looking to work in editorial or copywriting as a profession, NYC is the place to be. You’d start as an editor’s assistant and work your way up. Unfortunately that side of the business is still a bit of a mystery to me … but I’m sure google could help! Happy hunting!

  • Nesz Chapman

Hi! Sorry I’m so late with this.

I’d met you at the signing at Murder by the Book in Houston and promised to send you and your husband a list of paranormal mystery reading ideas. It was great meeting you again (the first time was some years back at the RT mass signing).

Some of these ideas listed are firmly in the sub-genre and some are barely in the sub-genre. I’m just copying and pasting (edited) notes from one of our discussions on the Shelfari Paranormal Mystery group. It’s certainly not complete but can get you plenty of reading ideas.

Shoot … what happened to all the spaces? The lists are pretty hard to read.

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Amy,
So great to hear from you! I loved meeting you at MBTB. You were an absolute delight. And thank you so much for the lists. I’ve read so many of these – and am reminded to read others – but I’m often asked who else to read in genre, and it’ll be handy to have a list around to offer up alternatives. Thank you for going to the trouble to get it to me.
Hope to see you again soon — until then, happy reading!

Vicki, I just finished Neon Graveyard and WOW.  I don’t even know what to say!!! The journey that you have taken Joanna-and all of us!-on has been thrilling, to put it mildy! When I finished, I had to take a 10 minute breather.  I need to read the whole series again.  So. Good!!!!! I can’t wait for your next works.  THANK YOU!!!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Krista,
Sorry for the belated reply, but it’s great to hear from you! I’m thrilled you loved NG so – and I’ll take it as a compliment that you had to catch your breath. If it’s any consolation, I had to do the same.
And thank *you* ever so much for reading!

  • Lynallport

Hi Vicki,  I messaged you a while ago about the Sign of the Zodiac books being available for download on kindle (in Australia – not USA). Books 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 were available but not Book 3. You said you would email your publisher.  I have today gone on to Amazon to see if there is any change and now the only book available on kindle to download in Australia is Book 1. What has happened?  I had a similar problem with another author who had a series and only 1 book was not available.  That publisher fixed the problem within a day or 2.  However, your publisher has gone backwards and now I can only get 1 book in the series.  I cannot understand publishers.  They should either put the whole series on kindle or none at all.  Don’t the publishers realise that people want to buy the whole set – making them MORE money and you also (as the most important person).  Can you please find out what is happening.  I really want to read your books but I want the whole series and not just some of them.  Lyn Allport

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Lyn,
All I can do is report the problem, which I have done. I don’t have control over the distribution of the series in part or whole, only the writing of the books. I will look into it again, of course, but please recognize that there’s only so much I can do.

  • Anonymous

Hi Vicki  I loved The Neon Graveyard!!!! I’m really sad to see the series end but am exited to see what you have up your sleeve next. I was very happy to see Warren get what he deserved. When are going to come to Chicago area for a signing???

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you for writing – and funny you say that, I’m hoping to get to Chicago next year for the RT Convention (though I’m conference fatigued right now, so it’s not a good time to consider it. Perhaps when I’m more rested. ;-) ).
In any case, I’m thrilled you enjoyed the series so, and I hope you enjoy THE TAKEN when it’s released next year.
      All best!

  • awesomedanielle

hey vicki, for the zodiac series, you published two types of covers right? how come you stopped publishing the cover with the eye on front for books 4, 5 and 6? that cover was totally wicked!

thank you and good job on the series!

p.s. i hope you publish the ‘eye’ cover for books 4, 5 and 6!

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

You’re speaking of the UK versions of the cover, and I expect they were ceased because the US versions proved more popular. Each to his/her own, right? In any case, thank you for reading!

      • awesomedanielle

So no more UK cover then =( oh well…..THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN AWESOME SERIES!!!

  • Trudy

I’d love to see all of your books in audio book form.  The first 3 Signs of the Zodiac are available in audio book format.  Will any of your other books come out in audio book soon?

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Hi Trudy,
Only the first three have been made available through Audible.com at this time, but if/when books 4-6 are, I’ll certainly let you know!

  • Lyn Allport

Hi Vicki,  Today I went onto Amazon and guess what!!!!!  All your Sign of the Zodiac books are now available for download on kindle (in Australia).  I am so excited.  I have now downloaded all 6 books to read.  Thank you for whatever you did with your publisher as it has worked.  I now have all 6 books to read.  Lyn Allport

Phew! Thanks for telling me – I know Harper tries their best in these matters, and it’s a relief that you were heard. Happy reading!

  • Tanja

    Hey Vicki!
I don’t know if you remember me… I’m the German girl who was so sad that only Scent and Touch were translated into German. Now I’m reading the books in English and I love them! I never thought my english would be good enough to understand it all.
At the moment I’m waiting for the sister of my boyfriend to come back from New York. She’ll bring City of Souls and Cheat the Grave with her. Neon Graveyard is already waiting in my bookshelf.

But there’s one question left… What star sign did Butch have? (I made a list for myself to have an overview, but I never found out what star sign Butch had)…

Thanks for sharing Joannas Story with us…
    greetings from Germany!
    Tanja

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

That’s fantastic to hear, Tanja! I hope you enjoy the rest when your boyfriend’s sister returns from the States.
As for Butch, I don’t think I ever specified in the books what his star sign was. I have notes on it from years ago … but no idea where those are by now. Here’s a list a reader made for me, though it only lists characters through the first 3-4 books. It gives names, star sign, element, conduit and mortal career. Also if/when they died:

I have read all of your book cept the new one. I plan on getting that soon. The only thing missing in the books is a little more detail on the meaning on the signs. You start to get into it than go into something else. Not get me wrong I really like the action in your books and thank you for not making them all about sex. That right there is a plus. Think about..for example: Marie is a pisces-she is an old soul-living more in the spirt world than the real world-shes deep-will fight to the end-and compassion is her weakness. Astrology is not as deep as people think but it can help you understand a person a little better. This is not a fact only a statement of my opion. It does not mean that I’m correct. Thank you. Shawnee

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Thank you for writing, Shawnee – I totally agree! But I needed to stay focused on plot/action and so that balance between all the elements (including relationships) was a tricky one. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the books thus far – and hope you enjoy the end to the series too!

  • Leannawolf50

I would like to know if all the book in Sign of the Zodiac are going to be a audio books thank you

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

Hi Leannawolf – First, thank you for writing! I’m afraid only the first three books are contracted for audio at this time, but if/when that changes, I’ll be sure to announce it!

      • Leannawolf50

        Thanks

    Hi Vicki,

I just wanted to pop in and give you a big thank you. A couple of years ago you sent me a very nice email about not giving up on my writing and it was the big push I needed. I now have several novella’s and a novel out. While I know I have a lot of work to do yet, I no longer feel like it’s out of my reach and I just wanted to say thank you for that. :)

    Stacey

    • http://www.vickipettersson.com Vicki Pettersson

      Stacey,
I’ve read your note a few times now and I can’t tell you how much it warms me. Thank you so much for writing and keeping me up on your progress. I’m thrilled that I could provide useful encouragement, but the success lies with you. You did the hard work (and I know how hard it is) and you should count and care for every step, every success. Congratulations!

Dear Vicki, I am writing on behalf of the UNLV undergraduate English program. I wanted to confirm that you are an graduate of our program (I believe I heard you say that on ‘State of Nevada’ a couple of years ago) and, if so, to get your okay to mention you as one of our most famous graduates on our website. You could provide inspiration to all our students who dream of being published authors!

Vick – I really enjoyed seeing you again at the Readers & ‘ritas do.  I have a request tho.  The picture you sent to my email didn’t make it and if you still have the picture I’d like you to send again.  It was a really good pic of you and I’d like to have it.

      Done!

  • Joelle Comeaux

Vicky I was introduced to your books by an amazing fan. You may remember her as the girl from Massachusettes. Her name is Bridget Gentry. She now works for Apple and spent about 6 hours with me on the phone yesterday resolving a technical issue. She is a great person! We both love reading and so we traded favorites and she told me how much she loves your books and what a great person you were. So you now have a new fan! Just wanted to pay it forward and give Bridget Gentry from Massachusettes (who now lives in North Carolina) kudos for sending me to your books :)
    Joelle Comeaux

    • vicki pettersson

Joelle – What a fantastic story! And the Bridget I’m thinking of used to be a bookseller as well. Is that correct? In any case, I love that story as I do the same thing all the time. I even sneak up behind people to see what they’re reading. It’s a bit stalker-ish, but a great way to start a conversation. ;)
Thank you so much for writing – I hope you enjoy Joanna Archer’s saga.

  • Trisha

Quick question! I was wondering.. If I sent a self adressed envelope to request a poker chip.. Would you be willing to sign an Ereader cover, as well?

    • vicki pettersson

      Of course!

  • Natoma

I’m *almost* finished reading the series and had to run over to gush about how much I’m loving it.  I’ve read so many books this year that have been let downs, that I was doubly thrilled to find you!

Keep up the good work, and I can’t wait to grab the new series!  I had fixed the photo of the galley (flipped, resized, and compressed), to mail back to you but don’t see an actual email.  If you’d like it you can contact me.  I’m pretty sure you have access to my email from the post?

    • vicki pettersson

LOL! Thank you for your offer to try and save me face – I’m afraid it’s all too late. I regularly do stuff like this – burn chocolate cookies so they look like sh*tballs, cook sweet potato fries into black unrecognizable nubs. And then I post it on facebook. I *like* to think being challenged in such areas is part of my charm, but I dunno. I should probably just stick to writing. ;)

Anyhoo, so glad to hear you’re enjoying the series. I poured myself into it, and to know it lives on in your mind is beyond gratifying. So thank *you.*

BTW, I’m working on a new design for the new series, so I’ll put up all new contact info when that arrives — sometime in the next couple of weeks.

      Best to you!

Well, when you explain it like that, I think I like the sideways pic!

I would like to send an envelope for a poker chip, would it be the same postage to Canada?

  • Claudia

Hi Vicki! I mailed you a SASE for a poker chip and bookplates about a week ago, and I was wondering if it reached your mailbox. I loved your Signs of the Zodiac series and I’m really looking forward to your Celestial series. Thanks!

I got it, Claudia – I’m making a trip to the PO either this Friday or early next week, so no worries! Thank you for writing!

      • Claudia

You’re welcome, Vicki! Thank you so much for offering these really cool freebies.

  • JV

Looking forward to the new series. But darn it Vicki, are you ever gonna come to Michigan??

    • vicki pettersson

I’d love to go to Michigan. I didn’t put this tour together, but I guess it made more sense to keep me on the left coast. Someday! Thank you for writing.

      • JV

Someday, eh? Ok Vicki..I hate to do this, but I’m breaking out the big guns…lol  Try to fit Michigan in your Tour (hopefully in the near future) and I will treat you to some Mackinac Fudge. This fudge is to die for, and well worth the trip. Gotcha thinking? Making your mouth water? lol    I hope so. Would love to meet you.

Oh, law-dy. That’s not playing fair!

  • Stacey Michaels

Nice to see you’re gonna be in LA for a signing for once. Hope to see you then.

    • vicki pettersson

And Redondo, if you’re feeling beachy. ;)
